What does it do?
Online Drive Benchmark is the first software that allows you to test and compare how good online drives perform. There are big differences in the quality and performance of the available online drives and Online Drive Benchmark allows you to measure this.
Additionally, the performance of online drives does not only depend on the online drive provider, but also on how far away you are from its servers and on your internet provider, internet router, your operating system and various other things. Online Drive Benchmark provides an easy way to find the best online drive for your PC with your internet connection and your internet provider.
What does it cost?
Nothing. The software is completely free.
How does it work?
The software provides a simple assistant that guides you through what you need to do to test a drive.
You first select which drives you would like to test. Then you set up a test account for each drive and connect it to your PC. The software will help you to do that.
Online Drive Benchmark will then run several tests for each drive to find out how well it performs. Then it calculates a single score all those tests. A higher score means the drive performs better. It is that simple.
Which online drives are supported?
Right now Online Drive Benchmark supports the following drives:
- Strato HiDrive (only if it is available in your country)
- Trend Micro SafeSync
- box.net
- DriveHQ
- Filesanywhere
Why is my favorite online drive missing?
In order to test each drive the tool needs to be able to measure various things (for example when a file upload is completed). Some drives either do not provide a way to get that information, or they require special programming work to access it. So, some drives are basically untestable, while others require additional work from us first. And of course there are also some drives which we have not yet evaluated.
However, Online Drive Benchmark is a pretty new tool and we are continually looking at ways to add more drives. If you would like to request support for a specific drive, please let us know.
